Selecting Where to Watch Content and Setting Default Apps/Devices

After you search for something, Control Center will provide content results across applicable devices. The left side of the page lists the types of results (Live, Upcoming, DVR, Streaming, User Watchlist, Web, and On Plex).

Live: Provides a list of content currently airing that you can watch Live on your set-top Box.

Upcoming: Provides options that are scheduled to air on Live TV. You can adjust which day you are looking for options at the top of the screen, using the (<<) & (>>) buttons.

Streaming: Provides options where you can stream your content on a service (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.). Control Center will give you the options for all the Apps/Services where your content can be found. Selecting a streaming service will turn the content on using whatever default device you have set up for that service. If you want to manually decide where you'd like to watch, select the content and press the MENU button on your Control Center remote. You will then be shown a dialog asking you to select the device you wish to view the show on.

User Watchlist: Provides content options found in watchlists (For Your Consideration, Crowd Surfing, My Lists, and Caavo Cache). Choosing this option will switch to whichever default device you have set up.

DVR: Provides content options found recorded on your DVR (if applicable). Choosing this option will switch to your set-top box DVR to play the recorded show.

Web: Provides content options found on YouTube. Choosing this option will switch to whichever default device you have set up.

On Plex: Provides content options found on your Plex servers. Choosing this option will switch to whichever default device you have set up.

Setting Default Device for Apps

If an app is available on more than one of your devices, you can tell Control Center which device you prefer to use that app on.

First navigate to Settings > Apps > Preferred Device:

Finally, choose the app which you want to set a device preference for, and choose which device you want to launch that app with by default:

If a device is not starting up as the default device for an assigned app

  • Check your Control Center settings to make sure that device is properly assigned as the default device for your specific app(s). Go to...Settings> Apps > Preferred Device.
  • If you have confirmed the above and it is still not working as expected, make sure the Caavo Companion App is installed and running on the device (if applicable). Open the device manually and navigate to the Caavo Companion app and select it. This will restart the Caavo Companion app and re-link your device and Control Center so that device is seen as the default device for your assigned app.

Setting App Priority

If a show or movie is available on more than one app, you can tell Control Center the order of your app preferences. This setting will affect the order in which apps are suggested to watch a show, and will also affect which app is used to automatically launch shows.

For example, on your Apps screen, if you have the Amazon app first in the list followed by Hulu, Control Center will prefer to play content on Amazon before Hulu. If you select something to watch, Control Center will automatically open the Amazon app to play it (even though it could have played it in Hulu just as easily).

Apps are sorted in priority from top-left (top priority) to bottom-right on the Apps screen. In order to change the order, first open the Apps screen by pressing the CAAVO button, then select Apps from the menu.

Select Apps:

Highlight the app you’d like to reorder (in this case Hulu), and press and hold the (<<) button to move it left for higher priority, or press and hold the (>>) button to move it right for lower priority:
