Control Types
AppleTV can be controlled via IR or Bluetooth controls. Bluetooth Controls are recommended for the most robust Control Center experience with your Apple TV.
Auto-Switching
Control Center can detect the following activities on AppleTV:
- A new Airplay session is initiated on AppleTV
- Bluetooth remote operation
- IR remote operation
- Using the remote app on iPhone/iPad
If Auto Switching for AppleTV is enabled and any of these activities happen, then Control Center will turn on and switch sources to AppleTV automatically.
Basic Controls
Control Center can perform basic controls with AppleTV through either IR controls. Apple TV keys are mapped to the following Control Center buttons:
AppleTV | Control Center |
Swiping on the touchpad | n/a |
Menu | MENU button |
Microphone | note: activates Caavo voice commands -- not Siri |
Home | HOME button |
Volume Up | + Volume Up |
Volume Down | - Volume Down |

Deep Linking
Deep Linking on AppleTV requires installing the Caavo Companion app on your device. On your AppleTV, navigate to the App Store, and search for "Caavo", and install the Caavo Companion app. Once the app is installed, move it to the top left row on your AppleTV using your AppleTV remote, and you're good to go!
NOTES: Deep Linking only works on AppleTV 4 and newer. Older versions of AppleTV do not have the App Store to download our Companion App.
When you power down your Control Center, your AppleTV may detect the change via HDMI. This can sometimes pull your AppleTV out of standby mode, turning on the light on the front. After a few minutes, AppleTV will go back into standby mode.
