The Control Center remote itself does not emit infrared (IR) signals. IR signals are only emitted by the Control Center device or by any of the IR accessories if they are connected.
The Control Center remote uses Bluetooth to connect and communicate with the Control Center device so you won't have to point it at Control Center in order for it to work. Control Center then converts those Bluetooth signals into IR, which it then blasts out to your devices via its internal IR emitters.
This means that your devices which require IR control must have line of sight to the Control Center box or an IR accessory.
